Mayson's Abuse

Tavia's bruised arm told the story.
Some time after the Guardians investigative mission against ink shadows and not too log before the chaos of the pink-hat robots incident, my fiancĂ©e came home in uniform, bruised on the arm and crying. It didn't make sense. Tavia doesn't cry coming in from patrol. When I asked what was wrong, she told me she'd tried to help him. Had to piece it together myself rather than push the issue too hard. Last I'd seen Tavia was outside Phoenix Tower checking on Grant, who'd been in a low mood. Had he actually harmed her? The thought was slightly upsetting. Eventually I heard the whole story and all I wanted to do was make sure Tavia was all right. Her arm healed well enough, so I put her mind to rest with a romantic evening of chocolate treats and glistening glasses of delicious ice cream. Seemed to do the trick, until the robot incident called us out into action. I'll be sure to stay clear of Grant Mayson for the time being and leave him to sort out his own problems his own way. If he reacts to the kindness of a fellow team-mates by shoving them around, then I want no part in the investigation of his mysterious origins or his emotional state of being. Should he feel the need to approach Tavia or myself to further the issue, I'll pay him audience but with very limited exchange. I hope the incident will be duly addressed by officers.

Ink and Shadows

Guardians assemble.
Guardians assembled. Friendly Fire lead the briefing. Our targets: Ink Shadows. Background describes a small terrorist cult who's initial goals involved summoning forth a dark and powerful creature into our realm but have since evolved. Three previously arrested members of said cult were held in custody and one in particular was fortunately cooperative enough to give us key intelligence on recent activities. Our mission was to follow up on this lead in our separate teams and report back to Phoenix Tower with results. Tavia and I worked with Energy Girl and Magnitude, a power-armoured heroine who I've had the pleasure of working with before, during one of Soviet Damage's rescue training sims. We found ink demons operating mainly out of Downtown, a lead I was able to uncover using a scrying spell to unveil inky stains on the astral plane. We found stacks of paperwork from these shadows, detailing recent movements of key Guardians, their frequent activities and lists of demonstrated powers.

When we returned to Phoenix Towers to pool Intel, a larger picture of the puzzle started to form. Others had found letters addressed to this cult with a seal belonging to the Circle of the Scarlet Moon, a formidable coven of witches, hindered only by their relentless in-fighting, whom I pray we'll have little to do with. It turns out the cult is also being financially back by one J. Abbot, an unknown benefactor. Most worrying was the finding of specific dates and times which when dealing with a terror group can only mean one thing. Chussi the dragon has successfully captured a second ink shadow with which I intend to carry out extensive magical scrying and scientific analysis of my own, in addition to that of any others within the Guardians. Hopefully when we pool together our findings, we can figure something worth knowing about these slippery liquid-solid pets so often used this mystic cult.

Gloomchant's Microcosmos

Gloomchant explains his crystal-bound pocket dimension.
I got to talking with new member and fellow mystic Gloomchant who's energy sampling ritual peaked my curiosity while meditating inside the cosmic-level threat simulation room. He explained he was sampling the energies to recreate the environmental image in a pocket dimension he carries in him. This bizarre story peaked my interest and I wanted to know more. He explained further that a long time ago a dimension-binding crystal was used to imprison some sort of demon by an unknown mage. Gloomchant had an unfortunate incident with said crystal which shattered and embedded deep in his body, fusing him with this dimensional energy. He admits to spending most of his time within this microcosmos and finds it more challenging projecting his presence onto the physical plane. Consequently, he fears this dimension is now expanding through him, spreading like a cancer in his chest. I empathised with the man, as a fellow mystic and mutual victim of dimensional mishap. What Gloomchant seems most focused on at this time however, is finding a lab or mystic workshop of his own from which he could operate. He also hopes to one day be able to afford rare ingredients and specialised equipment to facilitate in his work. In the meantime, I promised to help study a shard of his crystal, which he managed to chip off for me. Two brains are better than one and with my extensive library, I hope to find something that leads to a breakthrough.

Team Training

Today's team training saw the return of the Canadian cosmic-level threat simulation, which provided new members of the team with the opportunity to engage with mass team effort and group combat practise. The fall of the monster was relatively quick and this time we suffered little if any casualties. This speaks volumes on where we are at now as a team in both strength and efficiency, and I commend each member of our valiant team.

Sparrow's Plight

Sparrow's difficult decision

After seeing to John, Sapphyre's long MIA husband, I made to leave what I presumed was a three-way couple to their private reconciliation, but Sparrow walked off with me, looking quite troubled. The drama unfolded and it turned out this was not an all-consent open marriage. Sapphyre and Sparrow had in fact been engaged in an affair and Sapphyre really did not want her to leave. Sparrow however did not want a part in sharing her lover with a stranger and when we later spoke, she showed regret for having gotten involved with a married woman in the first place. Now, against my better judgement, I encouraged Sparrow to chase the love her heart desires, else risk the agonies of heartache, for love is a special type of magic upon which life itself does revolve. To let it go without a fight would be a life long regret that could plague her to no end.

John's Return

At Sapphyre's home with John and Sparrow

Word came that Sapphyre's husband John, who's been missing in the line of duty working with UNTIL, was found alive. Sparrow and I rushed after Sapphyre as she hurried to his last known location to find him. We were able to recover him from a lake down town and saved him from drowning. He was in bad shape, bound with bit of of wraps which gave way to reveal swollen wounds and cuts all over his body. I helped fly the couple home and proceeded to consult the celestial energies for assistance in healing John's form. My prayers were quickly answered and John's natural healing sped to work, scabs housed the wounds which soon peeled off, leaving faint scars to recount the tales of his captivity alongside other UNTIL soldiers. With this done, I readied to leave what I assumed was a three-way couple to their happy reconciliation, with a promise to help find this part-demon Taggart, who claimed responsibility for John's ordeal.

Vibora Bay

Vibora Bay is unlike most cities. Some say it’s the music that sets her apart, some say it’s the food, or the culture, or the religion steeped in voodoo tradition. Truth is, it’s magic that fills the air. Far below the sultry southern city lies an ancient creature, cast down from the heavens when Lucifer first rebelled. Therakiel, the angel exiled from both heaven and hell for his refusal to take a side, hides in the depths below the city, a Temple built for him and over him. It is this magic that permeates all of Vibora Bay and has drawn mystics to the Bay for centuries. Therakiel knows that the final battle of the End of Days is coming. His foresight has shown him that he who controls the war shall triumph over both heaven and hell. Or so goes the tale.

It's no surprise then that gangs of werewolves, vampire, zombies and dark voodoo practioners rebel on the city streets, among courts of unholy Nephilim. It is the case of the demon Adramalech that drew myself and Tavia to Vibora, but we were soon pacified by it's majestic beauty and soulful culture. That is until Oola of Oram met with Tavia and they got talking. I arrived on the scene and me being me, set into motion a string of assaults on the local and most Evil monsters. When high-school cheerleader and famous vampire hunter Taffy Winters requested help, Hocus Pocus and Sapphyre joined our party. We later bumped into Alexxia Moon and Canadian Shield at Ra's Egyptian Brownstone and once our missions came to a close, we headed for the SS. Bayou Queen for a spot of rest and relaxation.

Meet Newt

Newt and I got to talking about her not feeling comfortable due to appearances.

Newt is a young Atlantean with mental projection abilities. I had heard of her long before first meeting her on the Canadian cosmic-level threat training which brought us all to fight side by side. She's probably one of the nicest young girls I know and certainly holds a popular reputation among the Guardians for her gentle and lovable nature. Her appearance is both beautiful and adorable in all sense of the word, yet she spoke of wanting to try looking more human. She mentioned an unfriendly reception at a youth beach party with the Young Sentinels of the Silver Age Sentinels hero team which is probably what has triggered her desire to be able to mask her more aquatic features. She asked if I knew of ways to achieve this and immediately, four options came to my mind; an old potions recipe based on mermaid magic, a possible DNA-based serum, hologram technology and of course the common liquid-plastic shape masking. I kept this quiet and instead urged her to reconsider, but she insisted it wasn't an endeavour to change who she was, but merely the outward appearance. The way I understand it, young sweet Newt seeks a method in which to ease the first impressions of her more startle or fear-prone peers. Such is the cruel world of high-schoolers and teenagers.

Developments have arisen in the investigation of Adramelech, the demon struggling to gain foot in our world. Tavia and I journeyed to a town in Europe where Adramelech had a large following of dark mystics, hell bent in bringing  a new apocalypse upon the world. Together with the efforts of Europe's local heroes, we were able to calm the storm and put a stop to the Invocation of Adramelech.

Guardians All-Call

The team all-call welcomed new members and returning old members alike and served as a stage to reiterate group rules concerning teamwork. Operations officers Friendly Fire, Orion Prime, Nocran and Real Soviet Damage were pointed out should events on the field require Guardian assembly. Orion Prime's Guardian Academy for young heroes was also highlighted, and RSD finished with a statement on comradeship. "Guardians not asked to like each other. There plenty members, and Sascha understand that not every Guardian able like everyone. However, there need be some basic respect towards Comrades. On field, when there's most danger, Guardians all Comrades can count on. So just remember, all on same tag team. And all carry same banner." To this, I couldn't agree more.

Edom Simulation

Edom Sim, a set on Flickr. Images captured by Canon EOS X450 nanocameras designed for field photography.

This training simulation has to be the greatest accomplishment of computer technology, given it's near-realistic rendering of the Qliphotic realm and all the Kings of Edom. Sapphyre, Tavia, Tessi and I, together with Radaeron, a man conduit of negative energy, took advantage of the sim to learn more about the Kings of Edom. It took us through a re-enactment of recent events which saw the fall and rebirth of Qliphoth. In their weakened states, the Kings of Edoms would seek new vessels to use as avatars, and so captured UNTIL soldiers from Camp Lantern in North Africa, set up to sift through the wreckage of the VIPER-worshipping Temple of Nama. These soldiers were captives of the Towers and our job was to rescue them, inadvertently exposing ourselves to the Kings as better choices for godly vessels. This secured the freedom of the soldiers, but at the cost of our own sanity. Thankfully, it was all just a simulation, hey?

Demon Training

Demon Traininga set on Flickr. Images captured by Canon EOS X450 nanocameras designed for field photography.

The demon training simulation programme undertaken today by Land Hunter, the aquatic extraterrestrial, Tessi the feline extraterrestrial, Sapphyre, Tavia and I was not only to hone our combat skills but to better understand the demonic Qliphotic creatures operating in Luther Black's DEMON cabal. More than two decades ago, Luther Black used the full power of his DEMON organization to initiate the Demonflame incident. Through vile magic and human sacrifice he created a flaming tower that rose into the sky, and at its peak he attempted a horrific ritual in order to pry open the doors between worlds and drain the power of the Qliphothic entity known as Sharna-Gorak the Destroyer. He was stopped by the combined forces of brave superheroes and, to everyone's surprise, VIPER.

More recently, Luther Black took a desperate gamble to re-create the Demonflame incident and had he succeeded, would have been able to steal the essence of the Kings of Edom and become the apotheosis of Qliphothic power. Qliphtoph as we understand it is a negative realm of pure chaos and towering demon spires where the master magus, Luthor Black and his mistress continue to pry power, with lieutenants and DEMON devotees such as Jack Fool and The Left Hand.

With real estate on our moon now at an affordable price, everyone seems to be bidding at a plot of sand on our distant rock so of course I jumped in at the first opportunity and had a portal relocate part of the Hunter's Manor up to a domed piece of land on the moon. Having the lounge up there allows me to operate from off-planet where we're closer to the celestial bodies and more attuned with the cosmic energies, similarly as I've done with the exorcism chambers deep beneath the earth's crust, which works so well being closer to the nexus energies of the nether.

Multifaria Simulation

Disgusting sewer runs aside, the Multifaria simulation programme was a useful training tool which Sparrow, Sapphyre, Tavia and I ran together to hone our skills. Multifaria itself is a dark and dystopian mirrorverse where Millennium City is the centre of an evil reign, lead by the sinister Citizen Harmon who rules with an iron fist. A valiant underground resistance is led by a band of outlawed superheroes fighting back against Harmon forces. Of course this simulation is based on past events which have long been resolved, but the programme takes you through the daring raid and the epic prison break that freed the resistance's imprisoned leader and lead the today's current predicament and the affairs of both worlds.
