Ink and Shadows

Guardians assemble.
Guardians assembled. Friendly Fire lead the briefing. Our targets: Ink Shadows. Background describes a small terrorist cult who's initial goals involved summoning forth a dark and powerful creature into our realm but have since evolved. Three previously arrested members of said cult were held in custody and one in particular was fortunately cooperative enough to give us key intelligence on recent activities. Our mission was to follow up on this lead in our separate teams and report back to Phoenix Tower with results. Tavia and I worked with Energy Girl and Magnitude, a power-armoured heroine who I've had the pleasure of working with before, during one of Soviet Damage's rescue training sims. We found ink demons operating mainly out of Downtown, a lead I was able to uncover using a scrying spell to unveil inky stains on the astral plane. We found stacks of paperwork from these shadows, detailing recent movements of key Guardians, their frequent activities and lists of demonstrated powers.

When we returned to Phoenix Towers to pool Intel, a larger picture of the puzzle started to form. Others had found letters addressed to this cult with a seal belonging to the Circle of the Scarlet Moon, a formidable coven of witches, hindered only by their relentless in-fighting, whom I pray we'll have little to do with. It turns out the cult is also being financially back by one J. Abbot, an unknown benefactor. Most worrying was the finding of specific dates and times which when dealing with a terror group can only mean one thing. Chussi the dragon has successfully captured a second ink shadow with which I intend to carry out extensive magical scrying and scientific analysis of my own, in addition to that of any others within the Guardians. Hopefully when we pool together our findings, we can figure something worth knowing about these slippery liquid-solid pets so often used this mystic cult.
